"Dad, what is ethics?" asked the youngstar.

The father, a prosperous merchant, pondered for a few moments and said : "Well, you know that your uncle and I are in business together. Suppose a customer comes in and buys something worth $10, but by mistake gives me $20 bill and leaves without waiting for his change. If I split the extra $10 with your uncle-well, that''s ethics."

성공한 장사꾼인 아버지는 잠시 생각한 후 대답했다.

"저어 말이다, 아빠는 너의 삼촌하고 동업을 하고 있잖니. 그런데 어떤 손님이 10달러짜리 물건을 사는데 20달러짜리를 내놓고는 거스름돈을 받지 않고 가버렸다고 하자. 그런 경우에 덤으로 생긴 10달러를 너의 삼촌과 나눠갖기로 한다면 그게 윤리라는 거야"
