An indignant lady barged up to the host of a formal dinner party and said, "I will never enter your house again, sir. Your wife has just grossly insulted me."

"I''m sure there must be some mistake," soothed the host.

"What did she say?"

"She said I was a woman of the streets," said the woman.

"That''s just her way," said the host.

"I have been out of the Army for thirty years and she still calls me cololnel."

공식만찬에 나온 여자손님 하나가 발끈해가지고 무서운 기세로 그 집 바깥주인 앞에 나타났다.

"난 다시는 이 집에 오지 않을 겁니다. 방금 부인으로부터 지독한 모욕을 당했단 말입니다."

"필시 뭔가 오해가 있었나 보군요. 그 사람이 뭐라고 했기에요?"라며 집주인은 손님을 달랬다.

"나더러 거리의 여자라지 뭡니까?"라고 여자가 말했다.

"그 사람 버릇이 그렇답니다. 글쎄 제가 군대에서 나온 지 30년이나 되는데도 여전히 저를 대령이라고 부른답니다."
