[해외유머] '영원한 군인들'

It was a big banquet and there were several celebrities who wanted to
speak.

First an admiral rose and talked on and on until the audience began
to writhe.

The next speaker was a general who too talked on and on making it very
difficult for the audience to hold their nerve.

Finally the witty toastmaster rose and restored everybody to good humor
by his comment : "Now at last I know what they mean by the Army and Navy
Forever."

큰 연회가 벌어진 자리-.

명사 몇 사람이 연설을 할 참이었다.

맨먼저 일어선 사람은 해군제독이었는데 그의 이야기가 마냥 계속되는
바람에 손님들은 몸을 뒤틀기 시작했다.

다음 연사는 육군장성이었는데 그 사람의 이야기도 그칠 줄 모르고 계속
되어 사람들이 참기 어렵게 됐다.

마침내 재치있는 사회자가 일어서서 다음과 같은 말 한마디로 장내가 다시
명랑해지게 했다.

"이제야 나는 그게 무슨 소리인지 알겠습니다... 육군이여 영원하라, 해군
이여 영원하라 하는 소리말입니다"
