A complicated machine in a factory siopped working, Engineers
strived desperately to locate the trouble, but all tailed.

An expert who was called in tinkered with the machine briefly,
tapped here and there with hammer, and the machine resumed
opera-tion.

When he submitted his bill for $300, the plant manager was
aghast and said to him:

"All you did was ta-pping the machine a few times.

Please itemize your bill."

The expert took the bill and wrote at the bottom of if following:

Tapping machine with hammer $1.00.

Knowing where to tap $299.00.

공장의 복잡한 기계가 멎어버렸다. 엔지니어들이 원인을 규명하려고
기를 쓸고 덤볐으나 허사였다.

전문가를 불러왔다. 그가 기계를 잠시 만지작 거리고 나서 망치고 한두
군데를 탁탁 치니 기계는 다시 돌아가기 시작했다.

300달러를 청구해오자 공장장은 입이 딱 벌어졌다.

"아니 망치질을 몇번인가 한것 뿐인데... 어디 명세서를 뽑아봐요"

전문가를 계산서 아래 쪽에 다음과 같이 적어 넣었다.

"망치질 갑-1달러 어디를 망치질할 것인가를 알아내는 값-299달러"
