Realizing that it would do no good to reason with him any further,
the clerk turned to the bellboy and said, "Move this gentleman out
of 506 and put him in 508, right away."

Satisfied, the drunken guest moved toward the elevator, offering
no word of explana-tion or thanks.

"Would you mind telling me, why you don''t like 506?" called the
clerk curiously.

"The damn place is on fire!"

그 손님하고는 더이상 이야기해봤자 소용이 없다는 것을 깨달은
호텔직원은 벨보이에게 "이 손님 506에서 508호로 당장 옮겨드리게"라고
지시했다.

그것으로 만족한 그 취객은 전혀 영문을 설명하지 않은채 고맙다는
소리 한마디 없이 엘리베이터로 걸어갔다.

궁금한 나머지 담당자는 "손님, 어째서 506호실이 마음에 들지 않는지
말씀해주실 수 없을까요?"하고 큰 손리로 물었다.

"그 놈의 방에 불이 났지 뭔가!"
