When the lad graduated from college he was taken into the corporation by his dad．

He started as assistant treasurer, then gradually worked his way through the ranks to third vice president, executive vice president and--finally--dislodged the old man as chairman of the board．

The old guy took it kind of hard and his son tried to console him．

"After all," he said, "there’s no difference between your success and mine. We both worked our way up through the ranks."


"There‘s one very important difference," said the dethroned chairman．

"I didn’t have a rich father."


아들이 대학을 졸업하자 아버지는 그가 운영하는 회사에 자리를 마련해줬다．

경리업무를 보조하는 것으로 시작한 그는 차츰 지위가 높아져서 제3부사장， 제2부사장， 제1부사장， 사장을 역임하더니 마침내 아버지를 밀어내고 회장 자리를 차지했다．

좀 괘씸하게 여기는 아버지를 아들은 위로하려 들었다．

"따지고 보면 아버님의 성공이나 저의 성공에는 서로 다를 것이 없지 않습니까．다같이 바닥에서 시작해서 올라온 거니까요."

"한 가지 아주 중요한 차이점이 있잖아. 나에게는 부자 아버지는 없었단 말이다."

미려난 회장님의 말씀이었다．
