[해외유머] '오헨리'

After vainly writing several times for a check which had been
promised as an advance on his royalties, O.Henry called on the
cashier of a New York publishing house.

"I''m sorry" explained the cashier, "but Mr. Blank who signs the
checks is laid up with a sprained ankle."

"Is that so?" said the author.

"Do you mean to say that he signs them with his feet?"

저작권 사용료 선불조로 약속받았던 돈을 받으려고 몇번인가 편지를
띄웠는데도 반응이 없으므로 오 헨리는 뉴욕에 있는 그의 출판사의
출납계를 찾아갔다.

"죄송합니다만 수표에 서명해야 할 블랭크씨가 발목을 삐어
누워계십니다"라고 출납계는 말했다.

"그래요? 하면 블랭크씨는 발로 서명을 한다는 말인가요?"라고 작가는
따졌다.
