The medical doctor who works for a general hospital was relaxing in his living room after supper when the phone rang. He heard the familiar voice of a colleague on the other end of the line. “What’s up?” he said. “We need a fourth guy for poker,” the colleague said. “I’ll be right over,” the man answered. As he put down the phone, his wife asked, “Is it serious?” “Oh, yes,” the doctor said gravely. “In fact, there are three doctors there already.”

종합병원에서 근무하는 의사가 저녁식사를 마치고 거실에 축 늘어져 있는데 전화벨이 울렸다. 수화기를 들어보니 동료 의사였다. “무슨 일이야?” “포커판을 벌이려는데 한 사람이 더 있어야 4인조가 되겠어.” 동료의사가 말했다. “당장 갈게.” 이렇게 대답하고 수화기를 내려놓는 그에게 아내가 물었다. “큰일 생긴 건가요?” 의사는 심각한 표정을 지으며 말했다. “그래요. 실은 의사 셋이 이미 나와 있다지 뭐요.”
