Judge:Did you see the shot thatwas fired?

Witness:I only heard it.

Judge:That is pure herarsay and inadmissibleasevidence.(Asthe witness left the stand and his back was turned to the judge, he laughed out loud. At once the judge called him back and was about to hold him in contempt of court.)

Witness:Did you see me laugh?

Judge:No, but I heard you.

Witness:Isn't that the same kind of inadmissible evidence, Judge?

판사-증인은 총 쏘는 것을 봤어요?

중인-총소리를 들었을뿐입니다.

판사-순전히 듣기만 한 것일 뿐이니 증거로 인정할 없습니다.
(증언대에서 일어나 판사에게 등을 돌리게 되자 증인은 큰 소리로 웃어댔다. 판사는 즉각 그를 불러세워 법정모독으로 구속하려했다.)

증인-제가 웃는 걸 보셨습니까?

판사-보지는 못했지만 들었어요.

증인-그렇다면 그것 역시 인정할 수 없는 증거가 아닌가요?
