But I want to save a few good people and two of every living thing on the planet. So you are to build an ark.” Six months passed, the sky began to cloud up, and the rain began to fall. The Lord looked down and shouted to Noah, “Where is the ark?” Noah replied, “Lord, I did my best, but there were big problems. First, I had to get a building permit, but my plan did not meet their code. So, I had to hire an engineer to redo the plans. There I got into a long argument with him about whether to include a fire-sprinkler system. And then…”

때는 2014년. 하느님이 노아에게 말했다. “이토록 죄 많은 세상이 되었으니 6개월 뒤 온 세상이 물바다가 되도록 비를 쏟아 부을 것이다. 그렇지만 얼마 안되는 착한 사람들과 모든 생물 둘씩을 구해줄 것이다. 그러니 방주를 건조해라.” 6개월 뒤 하늘이 구름으로 뒤덮이고 비가 내리기 시작했다. 아래를 내려다본 하느님께서 노아에게 소리쳤다. “노아야, 방주는 어찌 되었느냐?” 노아가 대답했다. “주여, 하느라고 했습니다만 큰 문제들이 있었습니다. 우선 건축허가를 받아야 했는데 저의 설계가 그들의 규정에 맞지 않지 뭡니까. 그래서 기술자를 고용해서 설계를 변경했는데 그 과정에서 소방용 스프링클러를 설치할 것인가를 가지고 오랫동안 옥신각신해야 했습니다. 그리고…”
