A man offered his son $1000 if he could accomplish the following task.


"Place the money(all in one－dollar bills) in the ten envelopes in such a manner that no matter what number of dollars I ask for, you can give me one or more of the envelopes, containing the exact amount I ask for without having to open any of the envelopes.


If you can do this,you will keep the $1000."


When the father asked for a sum of money,the son was able to give him envelopes containing the exact amount asked for.


How did the son distribute the money among the ten envelopes?


The contents of the ten envelopes should be as follows : 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 489.



아버지는 아들에게 다음과 같은 과제를 해내면 1천달러를 주겠다고 했다.


"1달러짜리로 천달러를 줄 테니 봉투를 열어보지 않고도 내가 얼마를 요구하건 그 금액을 정확하게 건네줄 수 있도록 10개의 봉투에 나눠서 넣어야 한다.


이걸 할 수 있으면 이 1천달러는 네가 가져도 된다."


아버지가 금액을 지정하자 아들은 금액이 꼭 맞아떨어지게 봉투들을 건네줄 수 있었다.


10개의 봉투에는 어떤 식으로 금액이 배정되었던 것일까?


1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,489달러짜리 봉투가 준비되었어야 했다.
