The fellow detested all the subtle preliminaries usually expected by
a girl in favor of the direct approach.

One evening he had the following dialogue with a young lady he had
just met at a cocktail party :

"I am a man of few words. Will you or won''t you?"

"Your partment or mine?" the miss responded.

"Well," he said in an exasperated tone, "if thers''s going to be such
a lot of discussion about it, let''s forget the whole thing."

여자들이 기대하게 마련인 단도직입적이 아닌 세심한 예비과정이 그 사내는
딱 질색이었다.

어느날 저녁 그는 칵테일 파티에서 갓 만난 젊은 여자와 다음과 같은 대화를
가졌다.

"난 말쑤가 적은 사람입니다. 생각이 있어요, 없어요?"

"그쪽 아파트에서요, 아니면 저의 아파트에서요?"라고 여자가 물었다.

"아니 그렇게 많이 따져야 하는 거라면 아예 없었던 일로 합시다"라고 그는
성난 투로 말했다.
