On vacation, my wife and I had a meal at a roadside restaurant that was unsatisfactory in every respect. When the bill came, it had a space on the back to write customer comments. I wrote: “The food is overcooked, tasteless, the service unfriendly....And even the clock in the dining room isn’t working.” I signed my name and address and walked out. A month later I got a note from the restaurant that read: “Dear Sir, we’ve fixed the clock.”

휴가 나왔던 아내와 나는 도로변 식당에서 식사를 했는데 마음에 들지 않는 집이었다. 계산서가 나왔는데 보니 뒷면에 손님이 의견을 적어 넣게 된 부분이 있었다. “음식을 지나치게 익혀서 아무 맛이 없고 손님을 친절히 대해주지도 않으며...식당의 시계조차 가지 않네요.” 난 이름과 주소를 적어 놓고 거기서 나왔다. 한 달 뒤 그 식당으로부터 편지가 왔다. “손님, 우리는 시계를 수리했습니다.”
