A grieving family asked the mortuary if they could place a golf club in the casket of the deceased who had been an avid golfer. "Of course，" was the answer. On the day of the funeral， as the pallbearers descended the steps toward the hearse， a loud rattling and rolling came from the coffin. "Sounds like a pinball machine，" murmured one startled pallbearer.

Later， a family member of the deceased came to the chapel office to apologize. At the last minute， they decided to place in the casket， along with the club， a half-dozen golf balls.


초상집에서 골프광이었던 고인의 관 속에 골프클럽을 넣어 보낼 수 없겠느냐고 장의사에게 물었다. "물론 좋다"는 이야기였다. 장례식 날 운구차에 옮겨질 관이 계단을 내려오는 순간 요란하게 부딪치며 굴러대는 소리가 관 속에서 났다. 깜짝 놀란 장의사 사람이 "꼭 회전 당구기 소리 같군"이라고 했다.

장례식이 끝난 후 유족 한 사람이 교회에 가서 사과했다. 출상 직전 골프클럽과 함께 골프공도 넣어 보내기로 했던 거라고 설명했다.
