An American couple adopted a Korean baby boy．

On their way home from the adoption center, they stopped by the local college to enroll in night courses．

After they filled out the form, the registration clerk inquired, "Whatever possessed you to study Korean？"

They said proudly，"We just adopted a Korean baby and in a year or so he’ll start to talk． We just want to be able to understand him."


미국인 부부가 한국에서 온 어린 사내아이를 입양했다．

입양소개소에서 돌아오는 길에 두 사람은 그 고장 대학에 들려 야간강의를 듣기 위해 등록신청을 했다．

신청서를 적어내자 담당자는 "무슨 일로 한국어를 배우려는 겁니까?"하고 물었다．

두 사람은 자랑스럽게 대답했다．

"방금 한국 어린이를 입양했는데 1년쯤 지나면 이 애가 말을 하기 시작할 것 아닙니까．그때 녀석이 하는 말을 알아들을 수 있어야 하지 않겠어요."
