Noting that a business acquaintance who seemed to have only average abilities had moved up rapidly in his company to become a vice president,I asked him his secret to sucess.

He told me that it was quite simple.

"Not long after I started my first job, I got the name of an excellent executive recruiter.

I gave my boss's name to the recruiter, who lured him away from our firm, and I assumed his vacated position."

내가 아는 사람중에 기업에 종사하면서 특별한 능력이 있는 것도 아닌데도 빠른 승진을 하여 그 회사 부사장이 된 사람이 있어서 그에게 성공의 비결이 뭐냐고 물었다.

그의 이야기인즉 그게 별 것 아니라는 것이었다.

"처음 취직하고 나서 얼마 후에 나는 기업간부 스카웃을 아주 잘 하는 사람을 알게 되었어여. 나는 그 사람에게 내 상사를 추천했어요.

그랬더니 그 사람이 내 상사를 스카웃해갔고 그렇게 해서 빈자리를 내가 채우게 된 겁니다"
