A political fund-raiser was rewarded with a government job as a local commissioner of weights and measures.
On his first day at the city hall, he was met by the press."Mr. Commissioner," one reporter asked, "how many ounces do you think are in a pound?"
"Fellas," responded the commissioner, "give me a break, will you? It''s my first day on the job."
