A young man hired by a small-town supermarket reported for his first day of work. The good-hearted owner of the store greeted him with a warm handshake and a smile. Giving him a broom, the owner said, “Your first job will be to sweep out the store.”

“But I’m a college graduate,” the young man replied indignantly.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know that,” said the simple-minded owner. “Here, give me the broom. I’ll show you how.”

한 작은 고장의 슈퍼에서 일하게 된 젊은이가 첫 출근을 했다. 친절한 사장은 다정한 악수와 미소로 그를 맞아주었다. 그러고는 빗자루를 건네주면서 “우선 가게 청소부터 해야 하네”라고 했다.

“하지만 나는 대학을 나온 사람입니다”라고 젊은이는 노기등등해서 말했다.

“참, 미안하게 됐군. 그걸 미처 몰랐네. 그 빗자루 이리 주게. 어떻게 하는 건지 내가 보여줄게.

” 순진한 사장의 말이었다.
