Once upon a time， a beautiful， self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat on the shores of a pond near her castle. The frog hopped into the princess'lap and said; "I was once a handsome prince until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you， however， will turn me back into the dapper， young prince， and we can marry and live in that castle with my mother， where you can prepare my meals， clean my clothes， bear my children， forever feel grateful and happy to do so."

That night， the princess dined sumptuously on a repast of lightly sauteed frog legs.


옛날 옛적에 아름다우면서도 줏대 있는 한 공주가 성 밖으로 나가 연못가에 앉아 있는데 개구리 한 마리가 나타났다. 개구리는 공주의 무릎으로 훌쩍 뛰어오르더니 말하는 것이었다. "난 잘생긴 왕자였는데 나쁜 마귀 할머니가 나에게 마술을 걸었어요. 그런데 공주님이 나에게 키스해주기만 하면 난 다시 말쑥하고 젊은 왕자로 되돌아가서 공주님과 결혼해 저 성 안에서 나의 어머니와 함께 살게 될 것이고，그대는 내 식사를 마련해주며 내 옷을 빨아주고 내 아이를 낳아주면서 그런 일을 고맙게 여기면서 내내 행복하게 지내게 될 것입니다. "

그날 밤 공주는 살짝 튀긴 개구리 다리로 푸짐한 저녁 식사를 했다.
