Soon after he left college, the young man was hired as an assistant manager in a department-store men's clothing section.

Since they were never allowed to take their suit jackets off,he would usually iron only the collar, cuffs and front of his shirt.

The president of the company happened to come through their branch one day， and he and the store manager were standing next to the young man when a woman walked up.

"You're the same size as my son," she told him. "Would you try this sweater on for me？" Turning beet red, he said, "Ma'am, you're not going to believe this, but…" He removed his suit jacket, exposing a very wrinkled shirt."That looks just like something my own son would do！" she said.

She bought the sweater, and he got a promotion­­and from that day on he ironed the whole shirt.


대학을 졸업한지 얼마 안 되는 청년이 백화점 남성의류 매장의 매니저 보로 취직했다. 거기선 정장을 해야 하고 웃통을 벗는 건 허용되지 않았으므로 그는 와이셔츠의 갈라, 소매부리 그리고 앞부분만을 다림질해서 입고 다녔다.

하루는 회사사장이 매장을 둘러보다가 매니저와 함께 그 매장에 와서 청년과 함께 서있었는데 때마침 한 여자가 다가왔다. "우리 애하고 체격이 꼭 같군요. 이 쉐터 좀 입어봐 줘요. "

청년은 호당무가 되면서 말했다. "손님,깜짝 놀라실 테지만요..." 라며 그는 웃통을 벗어 엉망으로 꾸깃꾸깃해진 와이셔츠를 드러내 보였다.

그것을 보자 여자는 "어쩌면 우리 녀석하고 이렇게나 하는 짓이 꼭 닮았을까！"라고 하더니 그 쉐터를 구입했고 청년은 그 회사에서 승진을 했다. 그리고 그 날 이후로 그는 와이셔츠를 제대로 다림질해서 입게 되었다.
