I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying， "Hi， how are you？" I'm not the type to start a conversation in the men's restroom but I don't know what got into me.

I answered， "Doing just fine！"

And the other guy says， "So， what are you up to？" "Uhhh I'm like you， just doing what you're doing."

At this point I'm just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question. "Can I come over to your place after a while？"

This question is just wacky， but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. "Well， I have company over， so today is a bad day for me."

Then I hear the guy say nervously， "Listen， I'll have to call you back， there's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering my questions， bye."



변기에 앉기가 무섭게 다른 칸에서 말하는 소리가 들려왔다.

"이봐，어떻게 지내고 있나？"

난 변기에 앉아서 이야기를 하는 타입이 아닌데 나도 모르게 그 소리에 대답했다. "잘 지내고 있다네."

"그래 지금 뭘 하고 있는데？" "자네가 하고 있는 것과 똑 같은 일을 하고 있다네."

이렇게 대답하고 나서는 얼른 거기서 나오려고 했는데 그때 다시 묻는 소리가 들렸다.

"잠시 후 내가 그리로 갈까？" 터무니없는 소리를 하고 있구나 싶었지만 점잖게 이야기를 끝내는 게 좋겠다는 생각이 들었다.

"찾아올 사람이 있어서 오늘은 안 되겠어."

이때 그쪽에서 신경질을 부리는 소리가 들려왔다. "이봐，내가 전화 다시 할게. 다른 칸에 얼빠진 놈이 있어서 내가 자네한테 묻는 족족 끼어들어 대답을 하고 있지 뭐야."
