Before we left for a three-week vacation one summer, we asked our neighbor‘s son, a prelaw student， to mow our lawn while we were gone．

On our return, we found our yard neatly trimmed．

But we were puzzled when we noticed a section sporting a six-inch growth of grass．

The reason was worthy of an aspirant lawyer；"I wanted to produce evidence of just how much work I had done while you were gone."


3주간의 여름휴가 길에 오르면서 우리는 법과대학 진학을 준비하고 있는 옆집 아들에게 우리가 집을 비운 동안 잔디를 깎아달라고 부탁했다．

집에 돌아와 보니 마당은 말끔히 정돈되어있었다．

그런데 한 가지 알 수 없는 것이 있었다 -- 잔디가 6인치나 자라서 시선을 끌고 있는 데가 있는 것이 아닌가．

그 까닭인즉 법률가 지망생다운 것이었다．

"휴가 가 계시는 동안 제가 어느 만큼의 수고를 했는가를 보여주는 증거를 제시하고 싶었던 겁니다."
