- Will support a wide range of experiences and activities, leveraging Chevrolet’s outstanding capabilities
- 686 vehicles donated to the community since GM Employee Foundation Korea’s establishment
GEFK, in partnership with the Incheon Community Chest of Korea, invited applications from the public organizations. It chose five welfare organizations dedicated to supporting youth in need of safer home environments through an unbiased selection process.
Since GEFK’s establishment in 2005, the vehicle donation program has been its flagship initiative. This year's contribution brings the number of vehicles donated to the community to 686. The latest donations were made in the Incheon and Changwon regions, where these Chevrolet models are produced, to support the safe development of local youth.
The donated Chevrolet Trailblazers and Trax Crossovers, featuring spacious interiors, excellent fuel efficiency, and versatile performance, will serve as valuable resources for youth support centers that engage in frequent urban travel and outdoor activities.
On November 7, a vehicle donation ceremony was held at the Kkumnoriteo Group Home near GM Korea's Changwon plant. The event was attended by Hector Villarreal, GM Korea CEO and Chairperson of GEFK; Myongok Yoon, Chief of Secretary General of GEFK; Youngsik Kim, Site Manager of the GM Korea Changwon Plant; Kyubaek Ahn, Chairman of the GM Korea Labor Union; Jongsu Kim, Head of the GM Korea Changwon Labor Union; and GM employees.
Hector Villarreal commented, "We are delighted that our globally beloved Chevrolet Trailblazers and Trax Crossovers can provide convenient transportation for local youth. We will continue producing products that offer outstanding safety and quality while supporting our neighbors through initiatives like today's vehicle donation."
Gwangwon Lee, Head of the Kkumnoriteo Group Home, said: "We are deeply grateful for the donated Chevrolet Trax Crossover – the symbol of safety. We'll be able to provide our children with more opportunities for diverse experiences and help support their dreams as they explore our neighborhood."
Following the Changwon donation ceremony, GEFK plans to donate three additional Trailblazers to a youth support center in Incheon. Since its establishment in 2005, GEFK has engaged in various social contribution activities – including vehicle donation programs, youth education initiatives, safety campaigns, environmental improvement efforts, and support programs for self-reliance among underprivileged groups. Notably, employees actively participate in diverse community service projects across their regions.
About GM Employee Foundation Korea
The GM Employee Foundation Korea is a social welfare organization established by GM Korea's employees in 2005. From its beginning, it has been conducting multiple volunteer activities during holidays and anniversaries, when underprivileged neighbors may feel alienated. It continues to support programs for those vulnerable in the community with scholarships, educational support for the socially integrated class and support for the visually impaired. The foundation also supports neighbors in difficult situations through various social welfare projects such as vehicle donations, welfare center facility repair and goods supply, and emergency relief, as well as employee volunteer assistance.
