The small hotel owner was disturbed by the length of time it had taken the newly-hired country girl to do the simple job.

"Mary," he shouted down to the kitchen, "have you filled the salt cellars yet?"

"Indeed I haven't,sir," she called back fretfully. "The holes are so small it's awful hard to get the stuff in."
