A clergyman walking down a country lane sees a young farmer struggling to load hay back onto a cart after it had fallen off.

"You look very hot， my son，" said the cleric. "Why don't you rest a moment， and I'll give you a hand." "No thanks，" said the young man.

"My father wouldn't like it."

"Don't be silly." the minister said. "Everyone is entitled to a break." Again the young man protested that his father would be upset.

Losing his patience， the clergyman said， "Your father must be a real slave driver. Tell me where I can find him and I'll give him a piece of my mind！" "Well，" replied the farmer， "he's under the load of hay."


시골길을 가던 목사가 보니 젊은 농부가 길가에서 뒤집힌 수레에 건초를 다시 싣느라 애쓰고 있었다.

"꽤나 더운가본데 잠시 쉬었다가 하지 그래. 내가 거들어 줄게." "안 됩니다. 아버지가 야단쳐요"라고 젊은이는 대답했다. "바보 같은 소리 말게. 사람은 누구나 마땅히 휴식을 취해야 하는 거야."

다시금 젊은이는 안 된다고 했다. 아버지가 야단친다는 거다.

목사는 성을 내면서 말했다. "자네 아버지는 꽤나 지독한 사람인가 보군. 지금 어디 있나？ 내가 야단 좀 칠 거야." "아버지는요，이 건초더미 밑에 깔려 있어요. "
