An elderly couple was vacationing in the American West. Sam had always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots.

On the last day of their vacation， he saw the perfect boots on sale， bought them， and proudly wore them to their hotel. "Notice anything different， Helen?" he said to his wife.

"Nope，" said his wife. Frustrated， Sam stormed off into the bathroom， undressed， and walked back into the room， completely naked， except for his boots.

"Notice anything different?" he asked. "Sam， what's different? It's hanging down yesterday， it is hanging down today， it'll be hanging down again tomorrow." "Do you know why it's hanging down?

Because it's looking at my new boots!" To which Helen replied:"Should have bought a hat， Sam. Then it'd be looking up."


늙은 부부가 미국 서부지역으로 휴가여행을 갔다. 할아버지의 평생 소원은 진짜 카우보이 부츠를 장만하는 거였다.

휴가 마지막 날 할인 판매하는 곳에서 흠잡을 데 없는 카우보이 장화를 발견한 그는 그것을 사고 그자리에서 신은 뒤 우쭐해 호텔로 돌아왔다.

"여보， 달라진 게 눈에 띄지 않아요?" "아뇨."실망한 할아버지는 부리나케 욕실로 들어가더니 옷을 벗어던지고 알몸으로 걸어나왔는데 부츠만은 그대로 신고 있었다.

"뭐 달라진 거 눈에 안 보이냐고요?" "여보，뭐가 달라졌는데요? 어제도 축 늘어져 있었고 오늘도 축 늘어져 있고 내일도 축 늘어져 있을 거잖아요"라고 할머니는 말했다.

"그런데 그게 왜 아래를 바라보고 있는지 알아요? 새 부츠를 바라보기 위해서란 말이오!" 그러자 할머니가 말했다. "여보 모자를 살 걸 그랬잖아요. 그럼 위를 바라볼 것 아니에요!"
