Dick, Willy and George were walking along a country road when they realize that it was too late to go home.

So they decide to rest at whatever place each likes and meet up in the morning. Dick sees a stable and decides he will spend the night in there.

But Willy and George decide to continue on and look for a better place. Willy sees an old barn and decides to rest in there as it does not seem to have any animals except for a few mice. It is getting darker when George sees a house up ahead.

He walks to the door and knocks on it. A man answers. "Do you have a room？" George asks. "I have no other room except for mine and the room my seven daughters sleep in," he replies.

So they settle on a price and George is allowed to stay the night. The next morning the three meet up. "I slept like a horse in a stable," Dick says. "I slept like a cow in a barn," Willy says. And George says， "I slept like a mouse， going from hole to hole."


딕,윌리,조지는 시골길을 걷다가 너무 늦어 집으로 돌아갈 수 없다는 걸 깨닫게 되었다. 그래서 각자 아무데서나 쉬고 나서 아침에 다시 만나기로 했다.

딕은 마구간이 보이기에 거기서 유하기로 했다. 그러나 윌리와 조지는 좀 더 나은 데를 찾기로 했다. 윌리는 쥐들이 좀 있을 뿐 비어있는 허름한 헛간을 발견하고 거기서 쉬기로 했다.

점점 더 컴컴해지고 있는데 조지는 전방에 집 하나를 발견했다. 가서 노크하니 한 남자가 나타났다.

"빈방 있어요？"하고 그는 물었다. "방이라곤 내가 쓰는 것하고 딸애들 일곱이 함께 쓰고 있는 것 밖에 없어요"라는 게 그 사람의 대답이었다. 그래서 값을 정하고 조지는 거기에서 묵기로 했다.

이튿날 아침 셋은 다시 합류했다. "난 마구간에서 말처럼 잤지 뭐야"라고 딕이 말했다. 윌리는 "헛간에서 소처럼 잤어"라고 했다. 그러자 조지가 말했다. "난 이 구멍 저 구멍으로 쏘다니면서 생쥐처럼 잤다네."
