A doctor dies and goes to heaven， where he finds a long line at the Pearly Gates. As is his custom， the doctor rushes to the front， but St. Peter tells him to wait in line like everyone else.

Muttering and looking at his watch， the doctor stands at the end of the line.Moments later， a white－haired man wearing a white coat and carrying a stethoscope and black bag rushes up to the front of the line， waves to St. Peter， and is immediately admitted through the Pearly Gates.

"Hey！" the doctor shouts. "How come you let him through？""Oh，" say St. Peter， "that's God. Sometimes he likes to play doctor."


의사가 죽어서 하늘나라에 가 보니 천당 어귀에 사람들이 길게 서 있다. 그는 늘 하는 것처럼 급히 맨 앞으로 가봤으나 베드로는 다른 사람들처럼 줄서서 기다리란다. 그래서 맨 뒤로 와 투덜대면서 시계를 들여다보고 서 있었다.

잠시 후 청진기를 든 흰 코트 차림의 백발 남자가 검은 가방을 들고 황급히 나타나서 베드로에게 손을 흔들더니 곧장 천국문을 통과했다.

"이봐요！"하고 의사는 소리쳤다. "어째서 저 사람은 그대로 통과시키는 겁니까？" "있지，저 분은 하느님이셔. 때때로 하느님께서는 의사놀이를 하신단 말이야."
