[해외유머] '부모와의 만남'

For their English class, the sixth-graders were asked to write an
essay on the subject of "Parents."

While going through the papers, the teacher could not help grinning
when he came across the following passage in one of the papers:

"We get our parents when they are so old it is very hard to change
their habits."

<> go through : ~을 자세히 검토하다
<> cannot help ~ing : ~하지 않을수 없다
<> grin : 밝게 생긋 웃다, 픽 웃다

6학년생들에게 영어시간에 "부모"라는 제목으로 글을 쓰라는 과제가
주어졌다.

학생들의 작문을 읽던 선생님은 어느 학생의 글에서 다음과 같은 대목에
이르자 저도 모르게 웃음이 터져나왔다.

"부모들이 하도 늙어서 도저히 제 버릇을 고칠수 없는 지경에 이르렀을때
우리는 그들과 만나게 된다"
