[해외유머] '오입쟁이의 자비심'

George, a young investment broker, came into the Wall Street bar
late one night, ordered a double Scotch on the rocks, then downed
it in a gulp.

A friend came over, noticed George was pale, then asked, "George,
what''s wrong? Bad day in the markets?"

"No," George replied. It''s what happened after work.

I was walking down a nearly empty street when this young girl came
up to me and asked for a handout.

It was freezing, but she had on a light sweater, a sleeveless
blouse, and a short skirt.

She was shaking, and she told me she hadn''t eaten for days."

"That sounds so depressing," the friend said.

"Yeah," George said. "I''ll tell you, I could barely hold back
the tears while I was making love to her."

젊은 투자브로커 조지는 어느날 밤늦게 월 스트리트의 바에 들어오더니
얼음이 든 스카치를 더블로 시켜 쭉 들이켰다.

친구가 다가와서 그의 파리한 모습을 보고는 "웬 일이야. 오는 장사
망쳤나?"하고 물었다.

"아니야. 일을 마치고 텅 비다시피한 거리를 걷고 있는데 젊은
아가씨가 다가와서는 구걸하는 거야. 그 추운 날씨에 얇은 스웨터,
소매없는 블라우스, 짧은 스커트 차림이더란 말이야. 덜덜 떨면서
며칠동안 통 못먹었다더군"

"거참 마음아픈 이야기로군" 친구가 한마디했다.

"누가 아니래. 그일 하면서 눈물이 쏟아지는걸 간신히 참았지 뭔가"
조지가 말했다.
